Russell Wilson has signed a 1-year deal, worth up to $21 million with the New York Giants. $10.5 million is guaranteed. I think it is a very low-risk move for the rebuilding G-Men.

Russell Wilson had a solid year in his first season with Pittsburgh. While splitting time with Justin Fields, he was able to start 11 games and win 6 of them on a very average offense.
He completed 214 of 336 passes for 2,482 yards while throwing 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. If he would have played a full season, he likely would have been approaching the 4,000 yard mark and could have been in the neighborhood of 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
While he used to be much more mobile and capable of 500+ rushing yards, he was still able to rush for 155 yards and two touchdowns. The mobility is still there, and that is a primary reason why I believe he could be a perfect fit for the Giants. Daboll loves quarterbacks that are mobile and can chuck the ball deep across the field. He may not be Josh Allen, but Russ is more than capable of fitting the mold.
Malik Nabers is starving for a QB. Factor in Wan’dale Robinson, Darius Slayton and even Lil’Jordan Humphrey as well, and Russell would have a nice little WR core to work with. Wilson loves to pass deep, and he loves to be aggressive on the sidelines, which always suited fast and agile receivers like DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Malik Nabers is better than both of those guys (no disrespect to DK) and he was able to rack up 1200 yards and 7 touchdowns in 15 games last year with no reliable QB play. Give this man an experienced vet like Russell Wilson and watch him take off.

Russ has always been a favorite of mine and you can credit his 10 pro bowl worthy seasons, his super bowl victory and being the face of a dominant seahawks team throughout the 2010’s. But it goes deeper than that. He is a leader on and off the field and he can make smart decisions in the most crucial situations.
This Giants team so desperately needs a leader. They did not just lose a star running back in Saquon Barkley last year, they lost their entire spirit and identity. The lack of leadership made that locker room crumble in 2024 and it could not have been more obvious. The players were openly frustrated when Daniel Jones was released, and they just had no heart after that.
Enter Russell Wilson. Bringing in a vet like him who is well respected and still more than capable of winning games can shift the vibe rapidly. He is widely regarded as a great leader, and he often makes his teammates better for it. He is a great fit for this young Big Blue squad.
The Giants also recently inked Jameis Winston to a two-year deal and it is now evident that he will be serving in a backup role. Jameis Winston is a free throwing gunslinger of a QB who plays aggressively to a point where he throws nearly as many interceptions as he does touchdowns. However, his quick-strike ability and tendency for big plays keeps him on the radar for teams. It is also worth noting that he is an absolutely electric human being with the best personality in football, and he uses this to be a superb locker room leader. Winston and Wilson can transform the culture of this team in just one year.

As crazy as it sounds, I would not discount the possibility of the Giants still targeting Shadeur Sanders, should he be available at #3 in the NFL Draft. Russ is a 1-year fix while Jameis could be a 2-year backup and bridge for the future. Sanders could learn under two experienced vets and go the student route for a year.
Speaking candidly as a Giants fan, I would rather opt for Travis Hunter at #3, who can fill two holes on this roster at the same time. Regardless of who they draft this Spring, all signs point towards Russell Wilson being the starting QB for the New York Football Giants in 2025.
